BIO

Ankur Mukhopadhyay (b. 2002) is a pianist, composer, and producer based in Los Angeles, CA. 

Ankur has given numerous performances including Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot, Alfred Newman Recital Hall, and many more. He participated in music festivals such as Paris International Music Academy, Peabody Piano Week Festival, and Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival.

Ankur won major competitive competitions such as the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Caneres International Music Competition Vienna, American Protégé International Concerto Competition, New West Symphony Quick Bowman Piano Competition, Friends of William Grant Still Young Artists Competition, and many more. He also won many CAPMT and MTAC piano competitions. In 2017, he was awarded Artist of the Year and Rising Talents of the Americas by the Great Composers Competition Series. He was a semifinalist at the International Keyboard Odyssiad & Festival in 2017, and recently a finalist at the Chicago International Music Competition in 2023.

As a composer, Ankur had his string quartet piece Nostalgia premiered at the Alfred Newman Recital Hall on November 2023 as part of the USC Composition Showcase. He also composed music for some short films as well. His new piece for string orchestra, Impromptu, will be premiered by the UCLA Con Brio String Orchestra in the fall 2024 concert season. Ankur enjoys working with friends/colleagues who are living composers, and has performed works by Mic Ferrante, Yoni Fogelman, David Hernandez, Nicholas Lok, and Aidan Vass.

Ankur Mukhopadhyay is currently a student attending the USC Thornton School of Music, where he studies piano with Kevin Fitz-Gerald. He had the opportunity to work with Bernadene Blaha, Alexander Shtarkman, Ian Jones, and James Giles through music festivals/masterclasses. Ankur also studied composition with Nicolás Benevides and jazz piano with Otmaro Ruiz.
